What To Consider In Your Bathroom Renovation

Bathroom renovations can be expensive, so at L.L Projects we're mindful of your budget right from the outset. If you're happy with the current layout, we can create a modern update that is affordable.

Things to consider in your bathroom renovation are:

  • Colour scheme: Ensure the colour of your wall and floor tiles work together for a cohesive look. This coordination is particularly important when there are painted walls to consider.
  • Choice of fittings: New taps, sinks and tubs can eat into your renovation budget, so consider how many of these fixtures need replacing.
  • Services Location: Moving plumbing and electrical outlets should be discussed during the design phase.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does a bathroom/laundry renovation take?

A typical bathroom renovation usually takes 3-5 weeks from demolition to fit out.  Note though that some shower screens can take 10-14 days to order and install from completion of the tiling work. This may push the time frame out a bit.

  • How much does a renovation cost?

Well – it’s a bit like asking, ‘how long is a piece of string?’. No bathroom is the same. See the answer to the question below to get an idea of what may contribute to the cost. Rest assured though, we provide detailed quotes and are happy to go through the possibilities with you to match your requirements with your budget to get the best outcome.

  • Do I need to source my own bathroom ware?

It's up to you…. If you don't have the time to shop around, we are more than happy to help you out. Or, if you would prefer to utilise online or out-of-area retailers for your bathroom ware, that's fine too. Given that we have limited options in a regional area, it can sometimes be cheaper to source items online.

  • When do I need to have my bathroom ware items by?

We prefer to have all your chosen items on-site on the first day of your renovation. If we have arranged your bathroom ware for you, or you have organised it through a local supplier, we will arrange delivery for you. If you're sourcing bathroom ware out of area or online, make sure it can be delivered on time or it may cause delays in completing your renovation. If it's not possible to have all the items on-site on the first day, the specifications sheet for most items will suffice.

  • What affects the cost of my bathroom renovation?

Lots of factors can affect the cost of your renovation. Typically, some of the more significant ones are:

    • Removing or adding walls
    • Removing asbestos
    • Relocating plumbing or drainage, especially in concrete
    • Changing doors, including the installation of cavity sliders
    • Replacing or adding windows
    • Under-floor heating

Other factors to consider are your choice of tile, bathroom ware and even the way your tiles are laid - the more cutting required, the more expensive the tiling will be.

  • Are you fully licensed & insured?

Yes, we are fully licensed and insured, including all trades licences, public liability insurance & Home Builders Compensation Fund insurance (which is compulsory for any works over $20,000). We often hear of people that have engaged a tiler to undertake their bathroom renovation, only for there to be issues down the track and they never hear from the tradesperson again. Nine times out of 10 a tiler is only licensed to complete waterproofing & tiling works and is not licensed to carry out renovation works (a renovator’s licence is a separate licence). Don’t make the same mistake, ensure you engage a fully licensed & insured company like L.L Projects.
